Maryland State Tax Help
The State of Maryland collection division has a new weapon in its arsenal – they can freeze your driver’s license renewal, freeze your car registration and deny required emissions testing if you have not made payment arrangements for your delinquent State tax. If you have a professional license, failure to make payment arrangements will result in a freeze on your professional license renewal.
This enforcement technique can have a devastating impact on your ability to work. If you need a new vehicle and have car registration hold – the dealership will not be able to sell you the vehicle.
If you are subjected to one of these freezes, the State of Maryland will require you to pay 10 – 25% of the balance due immediately and the balance over two years. Many individuals and businesses cannot afford these terms.
How Charles Krengel, P.A. Can Help
We have been negotiating agreements with the State of Maryland since 1987. We often are able to obtain more favorable payment terms than the standard State guidelines. Many times we are able to get penalties abated and interest (13%) reduced. Our goal is to keep individual taxpayers working and businesses operating.
